Encrypted messaging for Robinhood Chain wallets

What’s next

$HOODCHAT

$HOODCHAT is the HoodChat token, coming later. Here’s how we’re thinking about tying it into HoodChat — and what will never depend on it.

Not launched yet

$HOODCHAT has not launched. When it does, its official contract address will be published on this page and on the HoodChat site only. Anything claiming to be $HOODCHAT before then is not ours.

How it could tie in

These are the directions we’re designing around. None are final, and details will change before launch.

Holder perks

  • Sponsored (gasless) messages for holders, so the token pays your network fees
  • Higher limits: larger images and files, bigger group chats
  • Exemption from the protocol fee if it’s ever switched on

Private payments

When private payments ship, the token could be used to pay for or unlock private transfers inside chats.

Sharing protocol revenue with holders

If HoodChat ever charges a protocol fee (today it’s zero, capped at 1 USDG by the contract), part of that revenue could flow back to holders — through on-chain distributions (“reflections”) or buybacks. The mechanism, if any, will be decided with legal advice and published in full before it goes live.

A say in the protocol

Holders could vote on the fee level (always within the contract’s hard cap) and on what gets built next.

What will never depend on the token

  • Basic messaging stays open to every wallet. You will never need the token to send or read a message.
  • Encryption is never gated. Everyone gets the same privacy.
  • The fee cap is enforced by the contract, not by a promise — see Smart contract.

This page describes plans, not commitments. Nothing here is an offer to sell or a solicitation to buy any token, and it is not financial, investment or legal advice. Any token’s features, if launched, may differ from what’s described, and no token should be acquired with the expectation of profit.
