Encrypted messaging for Robinhood Chain wallets

What’s next

Roadmap

What’s live today, what we’re building, and what we’re exploring. Plans can change — this page is updated as they do.

Encrypted 1:1 messaging

Live

Wallet-to-wallet messages that only the two wallets can read.

  • Keys derived from your wallet signature
  • Ciphertext stored on Robinhood Chain
  • Works with Rabby, MetaMask and Coinbase Wallet

USDG tips

Live

Attach a USDG tip to any message, in the same transaction.

  • 100% to the recipient
  • No custody — wallet to wallet

Images & files

Building

Send photos and files that are encrypted before upload and only openable by the chat.

  • Each file is encrypted in your browser with a one-time key
  • The encrypted file is stored on IPFS; the key travels inside your encrypted message
  • Nobody — including the storage provider — can view it

Group chats

Planned

Private groups where every member’s wallet gets the group key, sealed just for them.

  • A shared group key, encrypted separately to each member’s public key
  • Adding or removing a member rotates the key so ex-members can’t read on
  • Optional token-gated groups

Private payments

Exploring

Send USDG inside a chat without publicly linking the two wallets or revealing the amount.

  • Stealth addresses: each payment goes to a fresh one-time address only the recipient can spend from
  • Encrypted payment notes, so the amount and memo stay between you
  • Researching shielded-pool designs that work on Robinhood Chain

Phone app

Planned

HoodChat on iOS and Android, with notifications.

  • Installable web app first (add to home screen)
  • Native apps connecting through WalletConnect and mobile wallets
  • Push notifications that reveal nothing — just “you have a new message”

Gasless messaging

Planned

New users message without holding ETH first.

  • Sponsored transactions through a paymaster
  • Could be funded by the protocol or $HOODCHAT

Forward secrecy

Planned

Fresh keys per conversation, so a leaked key can’t unlock past messages.

  • Ratcheting keys, as in modern secure messengers
  • Backwards compatible with today’s inboxes

$HOODCHAT token

Exploring

A token that ties holders into the network: perks, sponsored messaging and a share of protocol fees.

  • See the Token page for what’s being considered
