Encrypted messaging for Robinhood Chain wallets

Costs & fees

HoodChat charges no fee today. You only pay Robinhood Chain gas — usually a fraction of a cent per message.

What things cost right now

These numbers are computed live: the gas each action uses (measured from the contract) multiplied by Robinhood Chain’s current gas price, including the small fee for posting data to Ethereum.

Live prices

Reading gas price from Robinhood Chain…

Protocol fee: none (contract cap: 1 USDG). Gas figures are measured from the contract; USD uses the Coinbase ETH spot price.

What you pay for

  • Gas, in ETH. Paid to the network, not to HoodChat. It varies with network demand.
  • Tips, in USDG. Optional. 100% goes to the person you tip.
  • Nothing for reading. Unlocking your inbox and decrypting messages happen in your browser and are free.

The protocol fee

The contract supports an optional per-message fee in USDG. It is zero, and the contract can never set it above 1 USDG — that ceiling is written into the code and can’t be changed. Any change to the fee is a public on-chain transaction, and this page shows the current value live.

Why messages are this cheap

Messages are stored in the chain’s event logs rather than contract storage, Robinhood Chain is an Arbitrum-based L2 with very low gas prices, and each message carries only its ciphertext plus a few bytes of bookkeeping. Later, holders of $HOODCHAT may get sponsored or discounted messaging — see Token.
