Encrypted messaging for Robinhood Chain wallets

Introduction

What is HoodChat?

HoodChat is an end-to-end encrypted messenger for crypto wallets on Robinhood Chain. You write to a 0x address, and only that wallet can read what you sent.

There is no account, phone number or email. Your wallet is your identity, and the blockchain is the address book. Messages are encrypted in your browser before they leave it, then posted to Robinhood Chain as ciphertext. Nobody in between — including us — can read them.

In short

  • Private by default. Every message is sealed to exactly two keys: yours and the recipient’s.
  • Your wallet is the backup. Your messaging key is derived from one wallet signature, so the same wallet recovers your inbox on any device.
  • Costs fractions of a cent. You pay Robinhood Chain gas — see live costs. There is no protocol fee today.
  • Tip in USDG. Attach a USDG tip to any message; it goes straight to the recipient.

How it works

  1. 1You connect a wallet and sign one free message. Your browser turns that signature into an encryption key pair.
  2. 2You publish the public half on-chain once, so others can encrypt to you.
  3. 3When you send, your browser encrypts the message to the recipient’s public key and posts the ciphertext to the HoodChat contract.
  4. 4Their browser sees the new message, decrypts it with their key, and shows it. Nobody else can.

What stays public

Robinhood Chain is a public ledger, so which wallets messaged each other, when, and roughly how long the messages were is visible to anyone. The words are not. More in Privacy & security.
