Encrypted messaging for Robinhood Chain wallets

Start here

Getting started

From zero to your first encrypted message in about a minute.

What you need

  • A browser wallet such as Rabby, MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet.
  • A little ETH on Robinhood Chain for gas. One cent covers your setup and a handful of messages — see costs.
  • USDG on Robinhood Chain, only if you want to send tips.

ETH on another network?

Gas must be paid in ETH on Robinhood Chain itself (chain ID 4663). If your ETH is on Ethereum or another L2, bridge a small amount over first.

Steps

  1. 1Connect. Click Open HoodChat and pick your wallet. If Robinhood Chain isn’t in your wallet yet, HoodChat asks it to add the network.
  2. 2Unlock. Sign the “Unlock encrypted inbox” message. It’s free and sends no transaction. Your browser derives your messaging key from it.
  3. 3Publish your key. Approve one small transaction so others can encrypt messages to you. You only do this once per wallet.
  4. 4Start a chat. Go to New chat, paste a wallet address, and write. If that wallet hasn’t published a key yet, HoodChat tells you and gives you a link to send them.

About wallet warnings

Some wallets, including Rabby, show “Simulation not supported” on networks they don’t natively simulate. That only means the wallet can’t preview the transaction — you can still review and sign it. HoodChat’s contract is public and verifiable; see Smart contract.

Using a new device

Connect the same wallet and sign the same unlock message. You get the same key, and your full history decrypts. There’s nothing to back up or export.
